Hi! I'm Josh - M0JMO. Thank you for looking me up on the Internet!

I am 37 and I work in IT. I have worked in this sector for around 20 years.

My other hobbies include photography, driving cars for pleasure, listening to music (HiFi and Head-Fi), electronic kit building and general gadgets/consumer electronics!

I was first licensed in 2002 as Foundation-class M3JMO. I progressed to Intermediate 2E0JMO in 2003 and in 2005 I gained the Full (Advanced) UK callsign of M0JMO. I took all my training and examinations at the Stockport Radio Society in the North West of England.

My main mode of transmission is SSB on HF, but I've been known to dabble in PSK and WSPR from time to time. Contests are fine in moderation, but I would much rather have a nice conversation and find out about other cultures or talk about antennas than just give a "5/9 73", therefore 17m is probably my favourite band.

My main station is based around my Elecraft KX3. I have owned many radios and previouly ran a Kenwood TS-590 which is a fantastic radio, but when I bought my KX3, I found I used the 590 less and less. The KX3 is all the radio I need! I built a Panadapter using a Raspberry Pi with built-in TFT screen and use the excellent Tiny Python Panadapter software. You can read more about it on my blog. It works really well, but I do have the official Elecraft PX3 Panadapter on pre-order :)

I mainly run the station with 50w RF output using the Hardrock-50 linear amplifier that I built in late 2013, paired with the LDG Z-11 Pro II Automatic ATU, but if necessary I have the capability to run the UK legal limit of 400w using a Linear Amp UK Ranger 811H with matching SPC Super Tuner

In spring 2014 I installed an 11m Aluminium Telescopic Mast and a genuine CobWebb antenna for the higher HF bands. I also built an Inverted V for 40m. Both are fed with low loss Westflex 103 Co-Ax.

My microphone is an Audio Technica AT2010 which goes through a Behringer 48v phantom power unit, before going straight into the KX3. I use the built-in EQ to get it to sound like me

I enjoy working Portable and Mobile too, so listen out for me in my car on HF / VHF / UHF.

If we have "worked" each other on the air, please send me an email, QSL Card or eQSL.

If you'd like to set up a scheduled contact (Sked), please email, tweet, or add me to Skype and get in touch!

I am rather active on Twitter and Instagram, so feel free to follow me on there. I don't just post about amateur radio!

73 for now!
